計畫撰寫 (Work Proposals)

Exercise 50
I. Pre-Listening Exercise
II. Listening Exercise
III. Post-Listening Exercise

Purpose:

Writing the hypothesis statement / 假設描述

I. Pre-Listening Exercise [Top]

Check the meanings of the following words and expressions:

  • formulate
  • 3D image
  • simultaneously
  • digitally construct
  • optimizing
  • manually retrieving
  • tolerable
  • multimedia or animation applications
  • realistic digital objects

Consult page 145 of Writing Effective Work Proposals by Ted Knoy for some of these definitions.

II. Listening Exercise [Top]
1. Listen to the conversation by pressing the "Play" button and then answering the following questions. Press the "Final score" button to check your quiz results.

1. How can the 2D images be obtained simultaneously?
A. using a personal computer
B. using three standard cameras
C. using an individual’s face

2. By how much time can the proposed face model reduce the time required to construct a 3D face model?
A. by 10%
B. by 15%
C. by 20%

3. How can the proposed face enhance multimedia or animation applications?
A. by reducing the time to construct a 3D face
B. by reducing formulation costs and creating more realistic objects
C. by minimizing the tolerable errors

4. How many 2D images can be obtained simultaneously?
A. six
B. four
C. three

5. The proposed model can minimize the tolerable errors associated with what?
A. reducing formulation costs
B. constructing a digital face
C. creating more realistic digital objects

2. Listen to the story again as you read the audiotranscript on page 330 of Writing Effective Work Proposals by Ted Knoy.

III. Post-Listening Exercise [Top]
1. Read the audiotranscript with a partner or change some of the information to adapt it to your situation.

2. Write a hypothesis statement for your work or research project (6 – 8 sentences). View the accompanying two Power Point presentations on details of how to write this assignment.

3. Write four questions beginning with “Why” regarding your plan to solve or address a problem in a work or research project, and then answer them. The question does not have to come directly from the listening exercise.
Example: Why does Patrick want to develop a face model?
Answer: To formulate efficiently the 3D image of an individual’s face from three 2D images
Example: Why do you feel that the results in your project are significant?
Answer: Because they contribute to our efforts to increase company profits
