1. Read the audiotranscript with a partner or change some of the information to adapt it to your situation.

2. Write a paragraph describing why you selected an institution for advanced study. View the accompanying Power Point presentation on details of how to write this paragraph.

3. Write four questions beginning with "What" when stating why an institution was selected for advanced study, and then answer them. The question does not have to come directly from the listening exercise.
Example: What would Indiana University provide Mary with in terms of professionalism in accounting?
Answer: the knowledge required to achieve her ambitions
Example: What attracts you the most to the graduate curricula at the University of Pennsylvania?
Answer: Its emphasis on developing independent research skills
